Hard to decide so I'll have to list a few! Canada because it's my home away from home (where my brother lives). Alaska because I had such a fun time travelling with Green Tortoise & making heaps of great friends from all over the world (you know who you are). Africa because of its beautiful people, its amazing wildlife & the incredible challenges and opportunities it gives travellers, like climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and being able to survive living in a tent for 7 weeks.

I love watching Australian Rules Football (Go Bombers! The Essendon Football Club in Melbourne) & baseball (the Toronto Blue Jays). I have a soft spot for the New York Yankees, because I saw them play at Yankee Stadium on one of my visits to New York. I also love to watch most sport, including tennis, cricket, netball, the Tour de France, athletics, etc, etc. As for participating in sport... not a lot... swimming, cycling, walking and yoga... none of them very consistently. Perhaps I'll make that a new year's resolution!

Photography is my passion, along with writing! Hobbies: I love going to the theatre (usually in Melbourne, but if I'm travelling I try to go to shows on Broadway or the West End... it's magic). I also love escaping to the cinema or into a good book. I listen to and love all types of music (something I think I inherited from my Dad). I enjoy getting away from the bustle of the city for a relaxing weekend - camping, hiking, or visiting friends and family.

Far too many to list but here are some: Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkein, Harry Potter by JK Rowling, Bill Bryson travel books, Shane Maloney's Murray Whelan series, West with the Night by Beryl Markham, Life of Pi by Jann Martel & I'm constantly introduced to other great books through my book group.

All types of music from rock to opera. Ben Folds, REM, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Indigo Girls, Michelle Branch, Loreena McKennitt, Cowboy Junkies, KD Lang, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Missy Higgins, Simon & Garfunkel, Clannad, the 3 Tenors & many many others.

Be prepared for anything, and if possible, have flexibility in your travel plans. Sometimes the best experiences happen when you least expect them or when you've taken a different path than the one you originally planned.

When I was a child I lived in Malaysia for three years and I think I've had the travel bug ever since. I'm definately happiest while travelling - exploring this wonderful world, seeing astonishing places and meeting the most amazing people. At other times, while I'm saving pennies for travelling, I live in Melbourne and it is great to be grounded for a while. I love Melbourne and think it is one of the best cities in the world to live and work. I enjoy spending time with my friends... going to the theatre, trying a new restaurant, discovering a new bike path or heading to the 'G' to watch footy. Until my next adventure...
