Calling all rebel rockers! Check out the new Michael Franti & Spearhead album for grooves with a message!

This year Michael Franti and Spearhead return with their eagerly-awaited album, ALL REBEL ROCKERS, launched September 9, via Anti-Records. Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, with reggae's most prolific production teams, Sly & Robbie (No Doubt, Alicia Keys, Sean Paul, Bob Dylan), this new release deviates from Franti's previous sound and comprises a hybrid dub-infused soul flavor with some hard-hitting dub rock production. Alongside Dave Shul (guitars), Manas Itiene (drums), Carl Young (bass) and Raliegh Neal (keyboards), the album also features Zap Mama founder Marie Daulne and Jamaican soul/dancehall star Cherine Anderson.

Spearhead have been around since 1994 and have always created music with meaningful political messages. As Michael Franti puts it in his online bio, ‘Throughout my career I have always viewed music as a way to stir the soul and a vehicle for social change’.  And, this album is no exception! Songs such as Soundsystem and Rude Boy’s back in town will get you thinking while you’re partying! Keep an ear out for tracks such as Say Hey (I love you), All I want is you and I got love for you for some uplifting warm-and-fuzzies, too.

Michael Franti and Spearhead are touring throughout the US during September, November and December and hitting New Zealand and Australia in October.
